Park Synagogue Young Associates
Park Synagogue Young Associates sponsors programs and activities year-round for singles and couples in their 20’s and 30’s. The group plans a wide range of events, such as Wine & Cheese in the Sukkah, Shabbat dinners and services, monthly Happy Hours, and community service projects. All activities are open to the community. Park Young Associates is also affiliated with the Young Adult Initiative, a project of the Jewish Community Federation.
New Generation
New Generation is for Park members with children under Bar/Bat Mitzvah age. However, New Generation programs are open to everyone! Each year, New Generation’s full calendar of events ranges from holiday and Shabbat programs to social and family events. Participating in New Generation activities is a wonderful way for Park’s families to make friends and get involved in the Synagogue. Recent New Generation events include Shabbat dinners & special evening services, a Passover Wine & Dessert Tasting, Purim Spaghetti Dinner, Hanukkah Bazaar, and a Havdalah Pajama Party.
Gesher
Established in May of 1999, Gesher was created just for members ages 45 to 65. Gesher joins the New Generation, Sisterhood and Men’s Club as an affiliate offering a variety of social, educational and cultural programs of interest.
Since their debut, Gesher has sponsored a Shavuot Study Session and Dessert, a private lecture and gallery tour at the Cleveland Museum of Art, theater events at the Cleveland Playhouse, discussions with the Rabbis and other resource people, a tour of old Jewish Cleveland, Shabbat dinners, an evening at the Shafran Planetarium and several social events.
The Keruv Connection
The purpose of the Keruv Connection is to reach out to Park members and others in the community who have or are contemplating conversion to Judaism, as well as interfaith couples, and those who have children or other relations who are intermarried. The program provides information and support through educational programs, speakers, and discussions with the Rabbis on issues of concern.
Park Synagogue welcomes everyone to participate in the energy and enthusiasm of our holidays and religious celebrations of life. Through participation, we hope to provide a greater understanding of Judaism and Jewish observance for individuals of all backgrounds.
Men’s Club
Park Synagogue Men’s Club provides opportunities to serve the Synagogue and the community. Park’s Men’s Club is one of the largest and most active chapters of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) in the United States. The Men’s Club calendar includes the annual Selichot Institute, Men’s Club Shabbat, a Men’s Health Issues Forum, Tefillin Classes and more! The Men’s Club also sponsors the Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club program and Park’s Gift of Israel program in conjunction with the Jewish Education Council of Cleveland (JECC).
Park Senior Adults
If you are an adult who enjoys concerts, plays, lectures, and day trips, then Park Senior Adults is the group for you! The group sponsors a variety of events throughout the year and attracts seniors of all ages and interests. Recent Park Senior Adults events include a Blossom concert, theater events, museum tours, and out of town trips. Park Senior Adults also sponsor an annual University Day in the spring. Open to the community, Park's University Day offers participants a stimulating day of learning not to be missed!
Sisterhood
Park Synagogue Sisterhood combines service to the Synagogue with active educational, social, religious, and social action programs. The Sisterhood meets each Tuesday from September through May at Park Synagogue East. The day begins with classes taught by our clergy, professional staff and lay people, with subject matter ranging from world events to prayer study, Jewish music and Yiddish. After classes, the Sisterhood gathers for lunch, followed by an interesting, entertaining program.
Our Sisterhood provides excellent opportunities for new members to meet, learn, and become part of the Park Family.
Women's Rosh Chodesh Group
What is a Rosh Chodesh Group? Rosh Chodesh, the celebration of the new month or moon, was designated a women's holiday because it is told that the Israelite women did not contribute their gold jewelry in the making of the golden calf. They were thus rewarded with their own special day of celebration each month.
Park's Rosh Chodesh Group, facilitated by Rabbi Sharon Marcus, provides an opportunity for Park women members of all ages to come together to learn, celebrate, and share our rich Jewish heritage and traditions. The group meets monthly during the evening in the synagogue or in members' homes for diverse programs of interest to women. Some of the programs that have been held since the Rosh Chodesh Group began in early 2002 are "The Myths & Mysteries of the Mikvah," an annual Women's Passover Seder, Jewish holiday cooking, Jewish mysticism, a book discussion, spiritual preparation for the High Holidays, holiday celebrations for Sukkot and Chanukah, tour of Biblical art at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and a Tu B'Shevat Seder. Future programs will continue to reflect the wide range of interests of the women in our congregation.
